ICPHSO's SPRING UPDATE
Wednesday, April 12, 2023
Spring is often seen as a time for renewal and new beginnings. This is especially true for ICPHSO. With the departure
of our Meeting Manager, Erin Cole, and our Meeting Coordinator, Nicole Mascali, ICPHSO is working with a new team supported by our management company. Karen Lam joined us as our new Meeting Manager/Assistant Executive Director in the beginning of
March and is already coordinating ICPHSO’s planning for our upcoming conferences, and providing the back office support our members and attendees have become so accustomed to receiving. We are also fortunate to have Deanna Bright supporting Karen
and ICPHSO until a permanent coordinator can be hired. Dana Groves, our Sponsorship Manager continues with ICPHSO -- feel free to reach out to Dana with any questions or ideas for sponsorship and exhibitor opportunities. We are always happy to work
with you to create custom sponsorship opportunities for our conferences and other events.

Registration is now open for the 2023 ICPHSO North America Product Safety Training Workshop, June 27, 2023, being held at and hosted by Wayfair in Boston, MA, USA. ICPHSO has received a discounted hotel room rate for attendees through the Boston Marriott
Copley Place which is connected to the Wayfair Headquarters location. We will again be offering sponsorship opportunities as well as limited exhibitor space, which we hope you will consider as you make your plans. Session content for the one-day workshop
is being coordinated by Planning Co-Chairs Len Morrissey and David Kosnoff, and will feature: Technology in Product Safety, Global and State Regulatory Requirements, and more. We believe the five plenary sessions will appeal to product safety professionals
in all stakeholder groups. In addition, a pre workshop networking reception is being planned for the evening of June 26, 2023, so be sure to remember the pre-workshop reception when making your travel plans. For more information about the Workshop
visit https://icphso.org/page/2023Workshop. We appreciate Wayfair’s great support by hosting the conference at their corporate headquarters.

Planning continues in anticipation of our travel to Almhult, Sweden for our International Symposium on October 26-27, 2023 -- hosted by IKEA. As is our practice we will announce a “Call for Proposals” at the beginning of summer and seek from members
and attendees ideas for content for the two-day international workshop. We also hope to continue the momentum that started with our collaboration with OECD and stakeholder feedback on sustainability and the lifecycle of products during our 2023 Annual
Symposium in Orlando, Florida. Board Member Rod Freeman will again coordinate the content planning with our volunteer members. It’s not too early to start thinking about global safety issues that you believe should be discussed. Also, we will be seeking
sponsors and exhibitors for the International Symposium, so please keep these opportunities in mind as you consider budgets going forward into 2023. We are working with IKEA on logistics, which will include side tours before and after the conference.
We appreciate the support provided by Board Member Vladimir Brajkovic, and others from IKEA, as we long-distance plan the details of holding our conference in Sweden.

In an effort to reach more product safety professionals and provide additional training and education opportunities, ICPHSO and the Society for Product Safety Professionals (SPSP) are co-hosting an Ethics and Product Safety Webinar on April 26, 2023,
at 2:00 om EDT. This webinar will feature leading product safety professionals discussing this important issue. The session will be recorded -- so our members and colleagues beyond North America will be able to watch the webinar at their convenience.
For more information or to register visit: https://icphso.org/page/SPSPICPHSO. We hope this will be the first of many more collaborative events in the future.
ICPHSO is presently in the middle of its five-year strategic plan which was developed
and distributed in 2020. Each strategic goal in the plan is being coordinated by a member of ICPHSO’s board of directors, along with volunteer members who have been meeting and coming up with various recommendations to further ICPHSO’s mission. Over
the next few weeks, the ICPHSO Executive Committee will review and coordinate the committee structure for the 2023-2024 plan year. Watch for future announcements seeking member volunteers to assist us on these committees.
Call for Speakers!
ICPHSO is always searching for and encouraging individuals who are interested in speaking at our conferences to reach out to us and let us know of their particular expertise as product safety professionals. We are committed to ensuring our conference
and event panels are inclusive and reflect the diversity of our membership and conference attendees.
Representation from different stakeholder groups includes speakers that provide geographical and human diversity, and speakers who haven’t recently or even never presented at an ICPHSO event.
This is a brand-new Call for Speakers list. So even if you submitted your name previously, we encourage you to complete the form again and submit your name for consideration as a speaker at a future ICPHSO conference. While we can’t guarantee selection,
your information will be shared with conference planning committee members for consideration as a future conference speaker.
We look forward to seeing you at a future ICPHSO conference or webinar. Your ideas and suggestions are always welcome. Send me a message at marc.schoem@icphso.org or reach out to our staff
at
info@icphso.org.
