Why Should I Attend an ICPHSO Conference?
7/30/2025
- ICPHSO has always focused on improving product safety for all consumers. The need to work collaboratively to address emerging safety issues will not go away. This highlights the distinction between a safe product and a compliant product, underscoring the importance of product safety professionals' attendance.
- We have seen repeatedly in the past that when the federal government takes a step back from regulatory activity, many of the states step up with regulation of products, chemicals, and the environment. ICPHSO has been increasing our engagement with State and global regulators and plans to further enhance that relationship through their participation at our conferences.
- A large number of ICPHSO members operate across international borders. Regulators from Canada, EU, UK, Australia, Japan, South Korea, South Africa, Colombia, Brazil, Spain, and many other international regulators continue to be engaged, and in some cases we are seeing a re-engagement from regulators that had been inactive in the past and are looking to be more active in the future. UNCTAD recently passed a resolution on Product Safety that we expect to continue to drive developments in this area throughout the world.
- Networking and Best Practice Sharing - This has been a key reason people attend ICPHSO. Our conference planning team are looking at including some new formats and programs at our annual meeting in February to further enhance opportunities for both networking and best practice sharing in a more practical and actionable way than we have done in the recent past.
- Product safety professionals know a problem in the product safety space can rapidly spiral into brand reputation, legal (think multi-jurisdiction class-actions), and revenue problems. It makes good financial sense not to harm your customers. ICPHSO conferences are a great way to identify global risks early on and be prepared to deal with issues through networking with other attendees.
