ICPHSO Update: Winter 2024

With the arrival of winter, ICPHSO enters one of its busiest times of the year – planning for the Annual Meeting and Training Symposium.  With the help of many volunteers, we were able to identify the top session submissions out of nearly 100 submitted.  The initial program is  now posted at:  https://icphso.org/page/2024_Annual_Program. The Symposium is certainly shaping up to be filled with relevant product safety content that should be of interest to all product safety and health professionals.  Updates are made online as they come in so check back frequently.   The Annual Symposium is being chaired by Incoming President Kim Mason, and features a new pilot Poster Session, with five accepted submissions. We are excited to bring attendees critical safety research that all should know about.  We are also identifying a number of sessions as qualifying for legal CLE credits, which many of you have asked for in the past. We will greet first time attendees and new members again at a special introductory lunch on Monday.  This event is co-chaired by Board Members Mike Gentine and Kristin Cordz and will  provide useful information on how to navigate the Symposium during the week.  Our ever-popular Job Matching Program returns chaired by Carol Pollack-Nelson.  Those looking for a job or if you have a job to offer, reach out directly to Carol at: pollacknel@comcast.net and she will work with you during the Symposium.  On Wednesday, we will feature Global Regulators who will update attendees on their regulatory activities. Our Student Mentorship Program returns with 12 students from various universities and colleges.  Thanks to those of you who have offered to Mentor the students.  This program is in its third year and if the previously two years are any indication of the success of the program, the future of product safety is looking good.  In collaboration with the Society of Product Safety Professionals (SPSP), during the Symposium’s opening morning session on Tuesday, February 20, 2024, we will join with all attendees to recognize eight product safety professionals who have earned the Certified Product Safety Professionals^TM stature: https://icphso.org/news/661361/Certified-Product-Safety-Professionals-to-Receive-their-Formal-Designations-at-2024-Annual-ICPHSO-C.htm. On June 26, 2024, the 2024 North America Product Safety Training Workshop, hosted by Walmart takes place in  Bentonville, AR.  In addition, prior to and after the Workshop, there will be lab tours provided by UL Solutions.  Updated information will be sent when available.  Be sure to save the date for our next Workshop.

We will again be returning to Brussels, Belgium and joining the European Commission to celebrate 2024 International Product Safety Week, October 14-17, 2024.  ICPHSO’s 2024 International Symposium will take place October 16-17, 2024, after the European Commission’s public sessions.  You won’t want to miss the week with global education, training, and networking.
