ICPHSO Announces Recipient of 2023

Ross Koeser Achievement Award

Washington, D.C. February 1, 2023 –- The International Consumer Product Health and Safety Organization (ICPHSO) is announcing that longtime member, volunteer, Board Member and International Planning Chairman, Rod Freeman, Partner at Cooley LLP in the United Kingdom is the 2023 Ross Koeser Achievement Award recipient.

The award, given annually, recognizes an ICPHSO member for their significant contributions to the organization. The award was created in 2015 after the retirement of ICPHSO founding member and first Executive Director, Ross Koeser. The award will be presented to Rod Freeman by Ross Koeser at the 2023 Annual Meeting and Training Symposium, February 22, 2023, in Orlando, Florida.

Rod Freeman is a Partner and Global Head of Product Compliance and Product Liability at Cooley LLP in London, England. As a longtime member of ICPHSO, Rod has provided the organization opportunities to move beyond North America and lead ICPHSO into other global locations. Through Rod’s Chairmanship of the annual International Symposium, he has been able to collaborate with product safety stakeholders, including industry leaders, regulators, NGO’s, international organizations such as the OECD and other relevant product safety stakeholders, throughout the world. Rod’s service to ICPHSO has provided the organization unique opportunities to further ICPHSO’s mission to become a truly international organization.

At ICPHSO most recent 2022 International Symposium held in October 2022, in collaboration with the European Commission’s International Product Safety Week in Brussels, Belgium, more than 250 attendees from 35 countries attended and participated in this global product safety event planned under the committee leadership of Rod Freeman.

Freeman is the first recipient of the Koeser Achievement award outside of North America. Rod exemplifies the true nature behind the award and has selflessly promoted ICPHSO throughout the world in an effort to further connect the global product safety community.
