The 5^th North America Consumer Product Safety Summit 2021:  As we previewed at our recently held 2021 North American Training Workshop, Health Canada is hosting the Summit virtually on September 22 and 23, 2021. The public event brings together North American product safety regulators from Health Canada’s Consumer Product Safety Program (CPSP), Mexico’s Consumer Protection Federal Agency (PROFECO), and the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC).  Product safety stakeholders from across North America are invited and encouraged to attend.  More information including free registration can be found here: 2021 North America Consumer Product Safety Summit.

The European Commission has organized the second edition of the 2021 EU Product Safety Award on September 28, 2021, from 15h00 until 18h00 CET.  This award aims to spread and reward best business practices that “go the extra mile” in product safety.  This event is hosted by European Commissioner for Justice Didier Reynders.  More information can be found here:  2021 European Union Product Safety Award

The ICPHSO 2022 Annual Meeting and Training Symposium is set to see us return to an in-person conference, February 14-17, 2022, at the Gaylord Hotel and Convention Center, National Harbor, Maryland.  Proposals are still being accepted (Deadline 9/17/2021) for sessions at the Symposium.  Don’t delay, submit your proposal before the deadline.  All ICPHSO conferences have content submitted by stakeholders, so we want to hear from you on areas of product safety that you want to hear about.  While we continue to monitor world, events related to the pandemic, proposals are needed, and we look forward to hearing from members and non-members.  Here’s more information on our planned in person Symposium along with links for proposal submissions.  Registration rates are listed and will open soon.  Plan now to attend this must attend event. On November 24 and 25, 2021 from 9:00 – 12:00m Electrical Safety First is hosting  the 13^th Electrical Product Safety Conference virtually. Registration and attendance is open to all and its free.  The conference brings together experts and leaders from across the industry to explore critical issues, solutions, and insight into safer electrical products.  More information can be found here:  2021 Electrical Product Safety Conference

ICPHSO launched the “Amazon-ICPHSO Student Diversity Outreach Scholarship Fund” which is intended to bridge the gap between existing product safety and health professionals and potential future professionals. The Scholarship provides assistance to students and professors at colleges and universities to attend ICPHSO conferences through financial assistance provided by Amazon. A Mentorship Program targeting college and university students studying product safety and related relevant disciplines.  ICPHSO will cover the cost of travel, hotel, and conference registration at our 2022 Annual Symposium in Maryland and will pair students with product safety and health professionals who are ICPHSO members and attendees to assist in their product safety professional development.  Through this program and in association with our Scholarship programs, we hope to provide substantive training and peer guidance to college students interested in product safety related disciplines, including: product design, engineering, manufacturing, policy, law, supply chain, human factors, statistics, medicine, epidemiology and more.  Applications and more information can be found here: ICPHSO Mentorship
